MNTD Election - Active members

The Trustee Board is currently made up of 10 Trustee Directors, six of whom are appointed by the company, three chosen by active members and one chosen by pensioner members to serve a four-year term of office. The full Trustee Board meets at least once a quarter in London and Trustee Directors are expected to contribute their time and energy by attending Trustee Board meetings and belonging to various committees and working parties. The experience can be immensely rewarding.

Applications are now open for members to become a Member Nominated Trustee Director of the Prudential Staff Pension Scheme. This is to fill the position of one of the three Trustee Directors chosen by the active members.

Members eligible to apply for this position have been contacted directly.

Applications will be accepted until noon on Tuesday 8 March 2016. If more than one nomination is received, ballot papers will be sent to eligible members on Tuesday 22 March 2016. The ballot will close at 5pm on Monday 11 April 2016, and the results will be communicated by Friday 15 April 2016.

The term of the Trustee Director chosen by the pensioner members ends later this year. As a result pensioner members will be invited to apply for this position in the next few months.

What is a Trustee Director?

Trustee Directors are responsible for protecting the interests of around 43,000 members and investing £7 billion on their behalf. They are required to ensure that the Scheme is administered efficiently and that it is run in the interests of members.

The Pensions Regulator expects Trustee Directors to be competent to hold this important office. While there are no specific qualifications required, the Regulator has produced a number of online modules to help you understand the role. These can be found at www.trusteetoolkit.com and members interested in the position are strongly advised to read these before applying.
